The City of Louisville was embarking on a multi-year website redesign. Their goal was to meet state accessibility standards, improve usability, and choose a CMS that would make life easier for staff.
We conducted discovery research, led accessibility training, designed a new information architecture and navigation system, and helped oversee the content migration.
Since spring 2024, we have worked with Marin County to update and migrate their existing county website. Our goal is to work one-on-one with department staff to evaluate their existing content, revise it to meet accessibility goals, and migrate it to a new Drupal platform.

Every Child is a national nonprofit that helps connect prospective volunteers and foster parents with local opportunities. For their launch in Tennessee, they wanted to revise their website to better meet user needs. We contributed user research and a prototype of a new website. Every Child launched in Tennessee in August 2024 and has since seen a three-fold increase in new volunteers and foster parents.
In 2023, we participated in a research and design sprint focused on users of the state careers website, exploring barriers to job-seekers finding relevant jobs quickly. We contributed user research, a prototype, a second round of usability testing, and a final recommendation report and executive summary.
We partnered with Helios Design on a research sprint for a construction and services company. The company wanted to gain better insight into how each of its divisions operated. We mapped five core processes and delivered findings, recommendations, and platform requirements in an executive summary and journey maps.
In 2020, Vox Media began a Google Summer Newsroom Initiative project to create a database of guidance for journalists writing about diversity-related topics. We created a 40-page, research-informed guide to disability-related terms focused on lived experience, as well as an accessibility guide to help journalists work more inclusively.
In 2022, we worked on a migration project for a child welfare coalition including dozens of state and local agencies and nonprofits. We helped migrate all existing pages to a new CMS, revised outdated pages, and created new recommendations based on existing research.
In 2022, we contributed to a multi-year report on the state of organ donation reform. Supported by user research with organ donation center staff, healthcare experts, and current and prospective donors, we co-authored chapters on quality assurance plans and the state of tissue donation.
